Public History

In addition to my work as an author and researcher, I also offer freelance archival research, writing, and historical consultation for scholars, cultural organizations, museums, and other clients who tell stories and work with historical narratives.

With expertise in U.S. history, gender history, and cultural analysis, I bring fifteen years of experience in museums and heritage organizations as well as a commitment to making complex material clear, engaging, and accessible.

Looking for my editing business?

Because archival research and historical writing can vary quite a lot based on the types of collections, archival materials, or subject matter, I quote each project individually.

Services

Historical and archival research

Need to answer a specific historical question, get detailed information from a collection, or find sources for a project? I can help identify relevant archives and collections, locate and analyze primary sources, and organize findings into a useful research summary.

Exhibition and public history writing

Help visitors and community audiences connect with historical material through thoughtful, engaging interpretation. I can assist with exhibit text, interpretive narratives, educational content, and related writing for museums, historical societies, and cultural organizations.

Research memos and source analyses

Turn a large body of material into a clear, organized account of what the evidence reveals. I can prepare research memos, annotated source lists, and evidence summaries that help you understand what you have, identify gaps, and decide what to investigate next.

Writing for public audiences

Make specialized knowledge accessible without losing its complexity. I can develop historical essays, interpretive content, educational materials, articles, and other writing that connects research with readers beyond the academy.
